SCHOOL MENTAL HEALTH SENSITIZATION

On Wednesday the 30th of January, 2020, the school mental health team sensitize a number of 40 students in Bijilo primary school including 2 teacher coordinators.  The purpose of the sensitisation was to promote the idea of mental health in school children as well as the nation at large because there is no health without mental health.  Speaking at the occasion, Mrs Sainabou Sanneh the headmistress gave the welcoming remarks where she made mention that she is proud to have such group of intellectuals who are ready to sensitise her school children on mental health issues; so she finally declare the program open.

Mr Solomon Correa the manager of SAF Foundation started the sensitation proper were he talked about mental health an mental illness, signs and symptoms, stigma and discrimination and where to get support. The students ask so many questions and all their doubts concerning mental health an mental illness were cleared by Mr correa. The first section was so interactive and educative like wise the second section where Mr Correa talked about drugs which was further explained by Aunty Haddy Jobe, Pamela and Mr Samba Baldeh the Assistant coordinator of School Mental Health.  Moreover the presentation was very interesting between the SAF volunteers and the students.  Finally, Mr Cham, the teacher coordinator, gave the closing remarks.
