COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH SENSITIZATION (SAF)
LAMIN KEREWAN
SUPPORTIVE ACTIVIST FOUNDATION held a community sensitization program at Lamin Kerewan on the 29th of February 2020. The people of kerewan were positively sensitize on the challenges of mental health and the role of the parents and families in mitigating mental illness.
The CEO of SAF, Solomon Correa opened the discussion with a didactic speech, after introducing to the audience the aims and objectives of SAF, he continued labelling the challenges of mental health to the audience. Mr. Jobarteh a representative of Drug Law Enforcement Agency deliberated on the effect of smoking cannabis and how it affects the minds of our youths. He further discussed the Legality that surround the use of cannabis and the vital role that the community and parents can play in mitigating the use of cannabis in our community.Representatives of different humanitarian organizations such as Peace of Mind further dilated on the challenges of mental health in the Gambia and put more light on the way forward. The community of Kerewan joined the discussion by sharing their experience and concerned about the aforementioned phenomenon.
