Today 24th January 2018 Supportive Activists Foundation-The Gambia held the day one capacity building training for its volunteers at the American Corner- Bundung. The training is expected to be in two respective days. The aim of the training is to build the capacity of participants on psychosocial support, advocacy and Human Rights.
The session was moderated by Ismaila Jammeh- the coordinator for school mental health awareness and started at 10 am with an overview of the themes by Ms Paulina Gomez of MH Lap. She summarily dilated on psychosocial support, advocacy and human rights.
Mr London Drake, a resource person to the training gave a thorough insight to the theme of Psychosocial Support. He challenged the trainees to improve themselves and after the training to try their best to go to TANKA TANKA and help patients through the following means: understanding their illness, managing their illness and managing their medication. At the end of his deliberation, there was questions and answers session and role play by trainees to prove their understanding of psychosocial therapy.
The second phase of the training which was expected to be handled by Ms Mbassy Manneh on Advocacy could not take place due to some technical issues. This session is carried forward to day two.
The training was attended by volunteers of SAF, Forward for You, Unity Foundation and OPI.
